South African Sculptor
Veda was born and brought up in South Africa and is now based in Wimbledon, London. She is an established sculptor working almost exclusively in bronze. Over the years her work has been enriched by the experience of living and working in South Africa, Peru, Hong Kong and Pakistan.
Veda uses fruits as a metaphor for the female torso with rich and unusual patinas. The finish is warm and tactile, and very lifelike. As well as fruit, Veda also works to create birds in flight, butterflies, and abstract forms. These pieces are originals and mostly commissioned.
"For me, art is about enhancement and enrichment. Beauty, growth and greater understanding of life’s mysteries are the bedrock of my work."
Veda founded Kaleidoscope Arts in 1993, a group of established sculptors who exhibit regularly together, and who ran the sculpture workshops at the Affordable Art Fair from 2001 - 2012.
