Michele was born in Switzerland but moved to Mijas in southern Spain over 30 years ago. After arriving there, Michele opened an art gallery as an outlet for local artists. Although not an artist herself, she started sketching to pass the time. It began with a sketch of an old woman in black who passed the gallery every day. She moved too fast for Michele to draw so the image was of her from behind.
Michele’s own artistic style evolved from there. Now she paints predominantly in oils. She is entirely self-taught and credits Mijas and it’s artists for her stimulus and resources from which she learned.
She likes her pictures to leave room for the imagination. Michele’s figures are wistful, they turn away from you, they point to something outside of your range of vision, or they hurry towards an unknown destination. There is something they’re not telling you and unavoidably you start to make up your own story.
Since 1981, Michele has exhibited regularly in Spain, Holland and Switzerland, and permanent exhibitions in Barcelona, Granada, Mijas and the UK.
