Alexandra was born on the West coast of Canada. She has painted in oils from the age of 12 and is largely self-taught. Living near the ocean she was drawn to paint seascapes and moody landscapes. Wildlife was also a huge draw having influences from renowned naturalist painter Robert Bateman.
For the past twenty years Alex and her photographer husband have lived and worked in the beautiful village of Overbury in Gloucestershire, and take fresh inspiration from their Cotswold environment. She gained international recognition for her contribution to Naïve paintings of animals and whimsical balloons.
Horse are a favourite subject with racing and polo a great interest. She has an international reputation for equine portraits, many on a grand scale to life size.
Her prints of animals, flowers and balloons have been widely published in America and can be seen in the Museum Of Fine Art in Boston, Williamsburg, and The Smithsonian. Her work can also be found in two Royal Households.
